I have a very large amount of people in my ask box asking me for advice on cutting and telling me they want to kill themselves, and various scary topics of that nature.

Believe me, I love giving advice, but do you realize how much pressure that is? I can always offer an ear in person but the way some of these posts are worded makes me feel as though if I don’t respond immediately then you’re going to off yourself. It sucks to say the least.

I have said time and time again, taking your own life is an INCREDIBLY selfish act and is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Cutting only leaves you memories of your pain in the form of a permanent scar. NEITHER makes sense to do. When I lost my father, I realized how precious life is and I stopped taking it for granted. Life is too short to focus on the bad. Instead, realize that the negative is a growing point in your life. It’s your chance to grow a tough skin to battle life’s tough curve balls.

I’m writing this so I don’t have to respond to the suicide and cutting pleas anymore, they are just becoming too much to handle, but I HAVE YOUR BACK! I will always write songs with you in mind, I will always talk to you in person at shows about your problems or anything you desire, talk to me about ANYTHING! Just please don’t tell me you’ll kill yourself if I don’t respond.  I am a song writer, not a psychologist. And if you think this is about one specific person you are completely wrong. It’s an accumulation of messages that have just been really hard to read and absorb.

Having said that, you are all family, I love you all the same, and get ready for a stellar album. It’s coming along so well. :)
